Five beautiful ragas presented by the famous, award-winning Sabri Family – three generations of sarangi maestros: Ustad Sabri Khan (sarangi), Kamal Sabri (sarangi), Suhail Yusuf Khan (sarangi), Sarvar Sabri (tabla). Raag Megh, Raag Mian Ki Malhar, Tabla Solo Shikhar Tala, Raag Adana, Raag Pancham.
The Sabri family comes from Moradabad Gharana (School of Music), an important Gharana of Indian classical music. Padam Bhushan Ustad Sabri Khan represents the sixth generation of this Gharana, Kamal Sabri the seventh and Suhail Yusuf the eighth generation. . Ustad Sabri Khan Sahab is the senior most Sarangi Legend of India. This is the a rare recording of its kind where three generations of musicians are making music together. Younger son, Kamal Sabri and grandson Suhail Yusuf Khan join Padam Bhushan Ustad Sabri Khan on Sarangi, while his eldest son Sarvar joins on Tabla.
Exponent of Sarangi Ustad Sabri Khan has performed all over world. In the year 2001 he gave a 24 hour non-stop performance in Paris.
Ustad Sabri Khan says "some people claim that it is one of the most difficult instruments to play- partly because it can have so many strings. But it has a completely unique resonance that can remind its listeners of human voices, and in its interaction with vocals this resonance creates a fantastic sound picture.
Kamal Sabri, the seventh generation of Moradabad Gharana is a youthful musical brilliance has already carved a niche for himself in the world of Indian Classical Music. Kamal regularly performs for all India Radio and national television. He has performed in many prestigious music festivals in India and obtained several awards including "The Best Instrumentalist', Surmani' and recently the "Young Maestro' award by the Indo-Sri Lankan Cultural Council. Kamal has also been invited to share his art with the BBC in UK and the Finnish Broadcasting Co., Finland.
Younge protégé, Suhail Yusuf, History Honors student from Venkateshwar College, is a well trained artist and already made his band "Advaita" and this band is working on fusion of Sarangi with other instruments. He recently played with his band in England, Finland, U.K, Sweden etc.
Sarvar Sabri is an internationally renowned tabla player / composer whose versatility, and passion for the rich diversity of the world's musical traditions, has spurred him to constantly experiment with other world-class musicians and composers, and to extend the boundaries of his own classical form.
